ON-LINE VOTING FOR LOCAL UNION OFFICERS

Finally, someone heard the complaints of so many local union leaders who by law must run local elections every two or three years.  Those of us who have been through it know the drill: printing ballots, updating member home addresses,  buying envelops & stamps, securing a mail box, assembling a committee to count ballots, securing the records, etc.  Well, it looks like that is about to be history.

Union-American.com is a union-only Internet Service Provider that caters to unions seeking to do more of their business on-line.  One of its best features is the on-line local union election software built right into its platform.  Now, we are not getting a cut of their profits or anything in return at all.  In fact, they do not even know that we think their product is pretty good. But we do suggest that local union leaders get on their web site to check on their product video that explains their services.  It could save your local lots of time and present an upgraded image on your web site.

Because the technology is there doesn’t mean that local unions can use it. Some International Union constitutions do not currently allow online balloting.
